EDUCATION — SCHOOLS AND FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS
Tania Opland and Mike Freeman offer a variety of workshops for schools, festivals and community arts programmes.
AROUND THE WORLD:
Taking in five continents, as many centuries and including songs, tunes, dances and instruments from an extensive and eclectic collection, all presented in historical and social context. A musical tour with endless possibilities and permutations.
Specialities include barn, ceilidh or "social" dances with a scattering of circle dances from Eastern Europe and a selection of very silly but authentic dances involving anatomy, bears and even rats!
|RHYTHM AND PERCUSSION:
Available where basic djembe or doumbek/darabouka style drums can be provided for all participants.
Basic techniques to produce a wide range of sounds, with the emphasis on listening and cooperation. Works best used to build simple rhythms into a percussion orchestra, especially when everyone plays in time!
OR ADVANCED WORKSHOPS INCLUDE:
Hammered dulcimer accompaniment
World music scales for hammered dulcimer
Vocals and violin -- harmonizing with yourself
And countless other possibilities.
Tania and Mike have many years experience in organizing and running workshops for all ages, both independently and together. Mike is a qualified teacher with some twenty years served in schools and colleges. Their combined talents enable them to offer an impressive and varied range of activities to people of all ages delivered with energy, style, enthusiasm and total professionalism.
